VMware and Seagate Post Top Customer Satisfaction Scores for Storage Vendors on VendorRate.com

IT and Technology Pros Give “Exceptional” Ratings to Storage Industry in General

VMware and Seagate are the two highest rated storage vendors for overall customer satisfaction on VendorRate (www.vendorrate.com), according to the site’s second quarter report. VendorRate is a Web-based service that offers performance ratings and comparisons of IT and telecom vendors.

VMware and Seagate were among only eight companies in VendorRate’s database of 11,000 vendors across some 60 industries that received “exceptional” composite scores from IT and telecom professionals for the quarter.

“VendorRate scores help IT departments make better vendor selections based on feedback from existing customers,” said Richard Schaefer, CEO of VendorRate. “The playing field between large and small vendors is leveled because the experiences of many customers provide a more reliable source of information than vendor brand positioning.”

Ratings submitted by IT and telecom professionals made VMware third overall with a composite score of 84.3 out of a possible 100 on VendorRate, while Seagate placed fourth overall with a score of 83.3. VMware also received high scores in four individual performance categories: likely to recommend, reliability, expertise and effectiveness. Seagate scored high in usability, customer service and expertise.

As an industry, mass storage systems vendors ranked fifth overall in customer service satisfaction. Two storage vendors, however, placed in the bottom five for overall customer satisfaction. Raters gave EMC a composite score of 52, and Symantec Enterprise Backup & Storage a 58.

The full report also lists the top hardware and software vendors in their respective industries and the overall best and worst vendors by industry sectors. The report is now available free on the VendorRate site.
