Quest, StorSimple team to offer VMware certified hybrid cloud backup and disaster recovery offering

Quest Software Inc. announced Tuesday an alliance with StorSimple Inc., a provider of hybrid cloud storage technology for VMware infrastructures, to deliver a single VMware Ready certified hybrid cloud backup, restore and disaster recovery offering. The combination of Quest vRanger and the StorSimple Hybrid Cloud Storage Appliance will give vRanger users access to a VMware virtual machine backup-to-disk solution with automated cloud archiving. Users will be able to perform seamless, granular object-level or virtual machine-level restores directly from the cloud.

Quest Software simplifies backup management with LiteSpeed for SQL server

Quest Software Inc. released Monday a new version of LiteSpeed for SQL Server, which now offers multi-instance backup management so DBAs (database administrator) can apply consistent backup strategies across the entire SQL Server environment. The new release also includes Adaptive Compression, a feature that automatically performs real-time adjustments to backup compression in response to changing server loads.
