NetIQ Corp. announced Wednesday NetIQ Secure Configuration Manager 5.8, to help organizations protect sensitive data, prevent audit failures and avoid non-compliance with mandates such as PCI DSS, HIPAA, SOX and others.
This new release delivers heterogeneous configuration assessment, user entitlement reporting and automated exception management, providing customers with best practices and out-of-the-box knowledge to appropriately configure enterprise systems. By managing user access to sensitive data, while enforcing change management best practices, organizations can reduce the risk of data breaches and meet regulatory compliance goals.
NetIQ Secure Configuration Manager 5.8 supports security and compliance teams' ability to communicate the business impact of configuration assessment investments. It offers a centralized, customizable dashboard displaying assessment results based upon configuration scans across systems that provide business-critical services. This meets business requirement to make risk and compliance data consumable and easy to access by multiple stakeholders, including executive, IT operations, human resources, and audit and compliance teams.
The additional functional features of the NetIQ Secure Configuration Manager 5.8 includes risk and compliance trend reporting which enables administrators to export information on compliance and risk status, identify abnormal behavior, demonstrate milestones and acknowledge accomplishments for necessary stakeholders. It also features customizable web-enabled views that deliver necessary information at any given time, including risk-based details, compliance views, organizational-level to system-level detail and more so that administrators can pinpoint vulnerabilities or compliance issues and remediate them.
The new release of NetIQ Secure Configuration Manager 5.8 also includes role-based access control which enables administrators to restrict access so that specific stakeholders can only view items they are authorized to see, protecting system configuration detail.
"Security and risk management are proving to be more challenging as compliance demands grow and evolve. To ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of your environment, organizations must enforce configuration and compliance management best practices," noted Geoff Webb, senior manager of product marketing at NetIQ. "NetIQ Secure Configuration Manager 5.8 allows security teams to closely manage security and risk while demonstrating the value of their programs to key stakeholders. This latest version provides customers with the right ammunition to prove the benefit of key investments, justify budget allocation for security and compliance programs and demonstrate a meaningful impact on the business—the ultimate goal for security teams today."
