Gale Technologies, a provider of infrastructure automation software solutions that power IT as a Service for labs, enterprises, and service providers, announcd Tuesday that the comapny is offering service tiering capabilities for its GaleForce Turnkey Cloud solutions, allowing IT architects to design and publish infrastructure offerings as easy-to-use services. With a GaleForce Turnkey Cloud solution, organizations can convert their existing compute, network, and storage infrastructure into a private or hybrid cloud environment in about two steps, to accelerate IT service delivery.
Gale and NetApp jointly demonstrated the GaleForce Turnkey Cloud Solution for NetApp with service tiering, along with integration to the Cisco Unified Computing System and Cisco Nexus data center switches. Along with this demonstration, Gale is announcing availability of three new resource adapters for the GaleForce automation software: the NetApp OnCommand open management storage APIs, Cisco UCS servers, and Cisco Nexus 5000 series switches. These adapters build on an already extensive library of over 130 resource adapters that automate a wide range of both physical and virtual resources. The demonstration unveiled at Cisco Live.
Gale is a Solution Developer Partner for the Cisco Developer Network and a NetApp Advantage Alliance Partner for Cloud Management.
The GaleForce Turnkey Cloud, based on the GaleForce automation software, allows IT architects to design and deploy service tiers for compute, network, and storage infrastructure, packaged as convenient, easily consumable services – published and offered, for instance, as gold/silver/ bronze, premium/standard, or large/medium/small. In addition to enabling service tiering of the individual compute, network, and storage resources, GaleForce provides the ability to design and publish complete end-to-end infrastructure templates containing multiple infrastructure elements. This template-based provisioning capability makes GaleForce an ideal and uniquely suited automation platform for unified and converged infrastructures and for heterogeneous environments alike.
Service tiers are the building blocks of service catalogs and an essential first step for automation and self-service enablement for deploying cloud infrastructure. Service tiers for individual elements such as storage, network, and compute resources allow architects and providers of IT services to control the configurations and versions that are deployed, to promote standards and best practices, and to simplify the selection and deployment of new services for end users. Then bundling all the infrastructure services together into complete and cohesive templates allows organizations to define and deliver end-to-end business services in minutes or hours, instead of days and weeks.
“Providing service tiering capabilities expands yet simplifies the control users have when building, deploying, and managing real-world clouds. We are working to remove the complexities that have plagued cloud computing and strive to offer simple solutions to completely transform existing environments into real cloud deployments,” said Akhil Sahai, vice president of product management at Gale Technologies. “The GaleForce Turnkey Cloud has continued to gain tremendous acceptance from enterprise and service providers. With the help of our partners NetApp and Cisco, Gale is working to further provide users with integrated tools that accelerate cloud implementations.”
