Spectra Logic's tape, disk and encryption products target markets ranging from SMB (small and medium business) to enterprise level, and are platform independent and integrate with major operating systems, the Boulder, Colorado-based company said. Customers can choose tape libraries with AIT (Advanced Intelligent Tape), LTO (Linear Tape Open), SAIT (Super Advanced Intelligent Tape) or SDLT (super digital linear tape) tape, and RXT (RAID eXchangeable TeraPack) SATA (serial-ATA) disk VTL (virtual tape library) technology, or Spectra's latest product family, SATA-based nTier archive and backup servers, the company said.
Bell Microproducts will distribute Spectra Logic products to its reseller partners, including LTO-based Spectra T950, T120, T50, T24, AIT-based Spectra 64K, 20K, 2K, SATA-based RXT disk, and SATA-based nTier500 archive and backup server, Spectra Logic said.
Spectra Logic is a provider of data archive and backup products. Spectra Logic’s archive and backup products are designed specifically for secondary storage needs, are compatible with every major tape and disk format, and come with integrated encryption and key management options through its BlueScale operating system and management interface, it added.

Spectra Logic's products complement Bell Microproducts’ current storage offerings, and add a key enterprise-class library, the Spectra T950, which can be expanded to more than 16 PB (petabytes), and be configured with tape, disk, encryption and/or as a VTL, Bell Microproducts of San Jose, California said. Bell Microproducts has entered into this partnership with Spectra Logic to further establish itself as an enterprise-class storage distributor, the company said.
Spectra Logic selected to partner Bell Microproducts because of its strong storage focus in technology distribution, Spectra Logic said. VARs can issue a single purchase order, which eliminates purchasing hassles and offers access to complete software and hardware solutions from one vendor, the company said.
