TapeSentry also has zero impact on an organization's network, server or existing backup infrastructure. TapeSentry provides encryption algorithms, crypto-signed logging and robust key management to satisfy regulatory requirements and protect stored data from unauthorized data access or theft, Crossroads added.

The Crossroads' TapeSentry data encryption appliance is non-intrusive and high performance, the company said. The appliance offers multi-streaming for LTO (Linear Tape Open)-3 performance drives, front side, high performance compression, 4 port 4 Gigabit Fibre Channel connectivity, and no server overhead, wire-level speed, Crossroads said.
The TapeSentry data encryption appliance provides data security through AES (advanced encryption standard) 256 encryption algorithm, role-based user management, audit log of key activities, and Crossroads’ Patented Access Controls, Crossroads said. The appliance also offers robust key management through its key lifecycle management, complete key security, and secure key storage, distribution and recovery, the company said. The TapeSentry appliance also provides industry-leading interoperability that supports heterogeneous tape environment and seamless integration with backup apps, tape drives, libraries and operating systems, Crossroads added.
The TapeSentry data encryption appliance is also flexible to deploy, as it builds upon Crossroads routing architecture to provide easy configuration of any port for host access or device connectivity, Crossroads said. The appliance is also easy to configure as the configure encryption policies are flexible, open and not drive or device dependant, the company said. The appliance provides pass through for all non-encrypted I/O (input-output) with no loss at full line rate, Crossroads added.
