Assureon NX offers Nexsan’s Assureon Intelligent Archive System in a compact and easy-to-implement rackable appliance that is priced to accommodate smaller organizations’ more-limited storage budgets, Nexsan of Woodland Hills, California said. The plug-and-play (PnP) Assureon NX is a simple, secure, and self healing disk-based archiving appliance for storing fixed content information, the company said. The appliance is ideal for interfacing with email archiving, medical imaging and records management, document management, e-discovery and other software applications, Nexsan added.
Small enterprise, branch office and departmental users have the same requirements for long-term storage as their enterprise counterparts, according to Clipper Group of Wellesley, Massachusetts. The Assureon NX is a powerful product that fits their storage needs, while providing ease of use as well as being an affordable and secure solution, Clipper Group said.
With the Assureon NX, Nexsan has responded to the needs of customers and reseller partners, who want a secure, affordable disk-based archive platform to integrate with third party applications such as email and other specialized archiving applications, Nexsan said. By using Assureon NX’s CAS technology, companies of all sizes can simplify and automate their archival processes including e-mail, electronic discovery, medical records and imaging, and streamlined backup and recovery, the company said.
Like its sister product, the Assureon SA Searchable Archive Appliance, Assureon NX also relies on CAS technology to protect data integrity and perform file-level de-duplication to reduce the costs of archiving business-critical information, Nexsan said. The Assureon NX does not include the content search functionality of the Assureon SA, but delivers higher usable storage capacity, the company said.
Assureon NX’s secure storage architecture ensures the long term integrity of all archived content through automated integrity checks with self healing functions, Nexsan said. It includes other features such as built-in Lifecycle Management functions, immutable file authentication and remote replication across the WAN (wide area network) for disaster recovery purposes, the company said. Data availability is assured with RAID (redundant array of independent disks) 6 protection, while the WORM (Write Once, Read Many) disk functionality prevents overwriting of archived files, Nexsan added.
Assureon NX is available in standalone or replicated versions and offers a plug-and-play NAS (network attached storage) like interface supporting both CIFS (common internet file system) and NFS (network file system) for simple connectivity to any operating system, the company said. Assureon NX can be deployed as a secure, cost-effective alternative to tape and other offline media, or as fast, intelligent and affordable disk-based enhancement to offline archives.
The Assureon NX Archive Appliance is available through the company’s worldwide channel of resellers, and the pricing starts at US$ 53,000, Nexsan said.
