ExaStore – ICM offers an enterprise-class storage solution, with management tools and open storage features, as against competitive and limited proprietary solutions, Nexsan of Woodland Hills, California said. SATABeast delivers performance and cost effectiveness in a single, scalable solution ideal for data-intensive storage applications, Nexsan said. The company is a provider of disk-based backup and enterprise ATA and SATA (serial ATA) storage technology, added.
The SATABeast has a density design of 21 TB (terabytes) of storage capacity in just 4U of rack space, which provides a compact footprint and can scale to 210 cost-correct TB of capacity in a single rack, Nexsan said. The SATABeast’s design extends individual drive life and provides significant savings year over year, while its AutoMAID (Massive Array of Idle Disks) function allows SATABeast to place its disk drives to an idle state to conserve energy yet provide near-instantaneous access to data, Nexsan added.
ExaStore - ICM offers automated storage management that simplifies system operation and maintenance, which drives down the total cost of ownership (TCO) of enterprise NAS, Nexsan said. The system’s new virtual volume capability allows dynamic expansion or reallocation of storage capacity according to changing business needs, and provides an additional level of control and flexibility for capacity management and provisioning, the company said. ExaStore’s unique single file system and single storage pool also ensure maximum utilization of disk space, it added. Its performance-optimized architecture, together with its use of standard, off-the-shelf hardware, provides solutions for any application or budget, resulting in the best price/performance recorded by a NAS vendor, Nexsan added.
By qualifying the SATABeast with Exanet’s ExaStore - ICM, Nexsan’s commitment to providing open access to integrated storage architectures that meet the needs of demanding enterprise users is proven, Nexsan added.
ExaStore solutions use open standards and are designed to work with a wide selection of hardware vendors, giving both partners and end users unique control and choice, Exanet said. Exanet is partnering with Nexsan to provide certified storage NAS systems worldwide to enterprise companies, who value critical management features, along with high-performance and unlimited scalability, such as those in graphic arts, manufacturing, media and entertainment, oil and gas, and telecommunications, Exanet added.
For software and hardware manufacturers that complete the S2 process, Nexsan provides benefits that include special pricing on the Nexsan products to be integrated into their solution, referrals to channel partners, co-marketing opportunities, and cooperatively produced white papers and collaterals, Nexsan said. The total solution will carry a “Nexsan certified” designation and be included in the Nexsan’s family of products, the company added.
