The Corsair Flash Readout USB drive takes the benefits of USB Flash drives a step further by allowing users to label the drive with personal IDs, and show the remaining storage capacity through the embedded digital display, which reduces the need to plug the USB drive into the PC to verify content, according to Corsair of Fremont, California.
Corsair, which designs and makes high-speed memory products, is a member of JEDEC Solid State Technology Association. The company supplies memory for applications ranging from mission-critical servers, ultra-high performance gaming systems, to ultra-portable notebooks, the company said. The performance and reliability of Corsair memory products makes them suitable for memory intensive computing, it added. Corsair is also a flash memory maker for mobile phones, digital cameras, PDAs, MP3 players and other handheld devices, the company added. Corsair also manufactures high performance PC cooling solutions and power supplies, the company added.
With a growing number of consumers moving towards owning more than one USB drive, Corsair wanted to introduce a product that will allow users to visually see what is on the drive without having to plug it into the PC, the company said. The Flash Readout gives users visibility into available storage capacity and personalize it with names to keep content organized, Corsair added. With HD (high-definition) content becoming more mainstream, consumers are demanding larger capacity flash drives to allow them to take content on the go, the company added.
Flash Readout USB drives feature a Bi-stable Cholesteric Display (BCD) which shows data usage and availability, Corsair said. These drives have a customizable label that users can personalize and edit to identify the drives' contents, it added. Flash Readout USB drives feature an 11 character alphanumeric label display, a pie chart to indicate disk space usage and a four digit display showing available storage space, the company added. The BCD display retains and displays information for up to one year without the use of a battery, Corsair said.
The Flash Readout USB drives uses the high speed USB 2.0, and is also compatible with the USB 1.1 interface, Corsair said. The drives offers a sustained read speed of 20 MB/s (megabytes-per-second), and sustained write speed of 7 MB/s, the company added. the drives come with a LED (light-emitting diode) indicator light, it added. Corsair also provides the user with Lanyard and USB cable as accessories, it added. The Flash Readout drives comes with a ten-year warranty, Corsair added.
The Flash Readout 4 GB USB drive, CMFUSBREADOUT-4GB is priced at US$ 89.99, and the 8 GB USB drive, CMFUSBREADOUT-8GB is priced at US$ 169.99, and the drives are available through Corsair's authorized distributors, resellers, retailers and online sellers, Corsair said.
