Kanguru’s Kanguru Defender gets FIPS 140-2 pre-validation

Kanguru Solutions announced Thursday that Kanguru Defender, its encrypted flash drive, has been added to the FIPS 140-2 Pre-Validated list.

The Kanguru Defender is one of several products developed by Kanguru Solutions to address FIPS 140-2 Validation, a stringent security standard set forth by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

Kanguru’s current FIPS 140-2 Validated product, the Kanguru Micro Drive AES, remains a mainstay in government security.

The Kanguru Defender offers several new features and enhancements to further help customers meet industry security standards.

A division of Interactive Media Corp., Kanguru Solutions manufactures high quality, secure and portable computer storage and peripherals that have provided consumers with secure back-up solutions for more than a decade. Interactive Media Corp. was established in Massachusetts in 1992. Kanguru has its US office located in Millis, Massachusetts.

The new features added include hardware AES (advanced encryption standard) encryption, administration free setup, a rugged aluminum design (available in tamper resistant form), and remote management capabilities (with the ability to remotely delete lost or stolen devices, change or reset passwords, reconfigure drive features and much more). This is added to a list of customizable options such as security colors, custom engraving, unique electronic identifiers, and strong password configuration and the result is a secure USB (universal serial bus) flash drive like no other.

"Our goal is simply to provide the most comprehensive security ever seen in a portable storage device," said Kanguru Solutions CEO, Donald Brown. "As good as some other secure solutions are, we believe our drives offer the best all around security of any flash drive on the market, period."

The Kanguru Defender is available through the GSA contract and a variety of government resellers, including CDW-G, Gov Connection, Insight, and PC Mall Gov.
