Adaptec debuts its latest RAID Series 5 controllers offering up to 28-port connectivity

Mar 04 — Adaptec introduced its latest offering — the Adaptec RAID Series 5 Unified Serial controller family. According to Robert Cox, senior product marketing manager for Adaptec, the new release represents the first RAID solution offering up to 28-port connectivity with both internal and external ports to achieve I/O performance up to five times faster than competitive products. Verari introduces FOREST Container portable data center

Mar 04 — Verari Systems introduced the Verari FOREST container solution, a portable data center that can be rapidly deployed wherever extremely power-efficient compute and storage solutions are needed. The Verari FOREST container solution is designed to house up to 1400 blade-based compute servers or nearly 12 petabytes of blade-based storage by utilizing Verari’s BladeRack 2 X-Series platforms in a modular unit. Pillar Data Systems now offering Cisco MDS Fibre Channel portfolio of switches and directors

Mar 04 — Pillar Data Systems now offers the Cisco MDS 9000 Series of Fibre Channel storage networking fabric switches and multilayer directors. Pillar is a Cisco Solution Technology Integrator (STI) for Storage, and will resell Cisco’s SMARTnet support services to provide joint customers with end-to-end technical support. Read more...

Toshiba Storage debuts 5,400 RPM 1.8-inch HDDs with micro-sata connector

Feb 28 — Toshiba Storage Device Division (SDD) recently introduced a new line of high-performance 5,400 RPM Serial ATA (SATA) 1.8-inch HDDs to its product offerings for mobile PCs. Available in 120GB1 and 80GB capacities, these new HDDs integrate design elements from Toshiba's 2.5-inch line into its 1.8-inch platform to offer enhanced performance for ultra-thin and light PC applications.
